The Schillaci Stakes is a Group 2 horse race held every October at Melbourne’s esteemed Caulfield Racecourse. Held on one of the feature days of the spring – the Caulfield Guineas Day – the Schillaci Stakes forms part of the esteemed Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. The Schillaci Stakes is a race for horse’s three-years-old and over to compete for the $200,000 prizemoney under open weight for age conditions. The event spans 1000 metres and is always a thrilling sprint for spectators.

Taking place on the Caulfield Guineas Day, the Schillaci Stakes form a bumper race card headlined by the $1 million Group One Caulfield Guineas (1600m). The Schillaci Stakes was initially run in 1970 as a Principal race over six furlongs, and saw Regal Vista claim the initial honours. In 1973, in accordance with Australia converting to the metric system, the Schillaci Stakes officially became 1200 metres and was raised to a Group 2 status race six years later. In 1988 the race was dropped to 1000 metres in length and has remained as such ever since.
