Schillaci Stakes History

The Schillaci Stakes was initially run in 1970 as a Principal race over six furlongs, and saw Regal Vista claim the initial honours. In 1973, in accordance with Australia converting to the metric system, the Schillaci Stakes officially became 1200 metres and was raised to a Group 2 status race six years later. In 1988 the race was dropped to 1000 metres in length and has remained as such ever since.
