The Caulfield Guineas Day is one of several prolific features of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, and also features the Group Two Schillaci Stakes (1000m).
The 2010 Schillaci Stakes will draw in a quality field of runners when it takes to the Caulfield Racecourse, one if which is likely to be De Lightning Ridge.
The Joseph Pride-trained five-year-old had superb spring preparations winning an 800 metre barrier trial, but failed to deliver in her first up jump finishing 10th in the Listed Sheraco Stakes (1100m).
The Randwick Racecourse record holder has had a short spring campaign, which is set to finish in the 2010 Schillaci Stakes – her spring goal.
Also a possible runner in the 2010 Schillaci Stakes is the Danny O’Brien-trained Star Witness, which ran third in the Listed Vain Stakes (1100m) to Toorak Toff last month.
The Starcraft colt is likely to use the 2010 Schillaci Stakes as a lead up into the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) on October 30.
The Caulfield Guineas day will take place on October 9 at the stunning Caulfield Racecourse featuring many of Australia’s greatest runners.
Also taking place will be the headlining Group One Caulfield Guineas (1600m), the Group One Yalumba Stakes (2000m), the Group One Toorak Handicap (1600m), the Group Two Presentation Stakes (2400m) and the Group Three Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m).
