Returning to the track in typically smart form this time in, trainer David Hayes has confirmed Gregers in the final field for the 2014 Schillaci Stakes.

Securing six race wins and a further four minor places from just 16 competitive appearances of course so far, Gregers finished fourth in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) first-up this year before placing a close second in the Listed MSS Security Stakes (1100m) on March 8th.

Running fourth in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m), third in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Classic (1200m) and fourth in the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) to close out her autumn prep, the Commands mare secured back-to-back victories in the Australian Defence Force Handicap (1100m) and Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) first-up this time, but was unlucky to finish sixth when hampered in the final straight of the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) last time out.

Allocated the central barrier 4, Gregers has been confirmed to be partnered by leading jockey Craig Williams in the Schillaci Stakes on Saturday.

Contesting a similarly strong autumn preparation, Platelet is yet to appear on course through the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival but has been confirmed in the final field for the 2014 Schillaci Stakes.

Winning the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) most notably over four competitive starts through the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival, Platelet returned to the track in smart form over autumn; winning the 55 Second Handicap (955m) first-up before finishing second in each of the Group 3 Irwin Stakes (1100m), Robert Sangster Classic and The Goodwood.

Allocated the ideal barrier 3, the Strategic mare has been confirmed to be partnered by jockey Ben Melham in the 2014 Schillaci Stakes and is a leading chance for success this weekend.

A standout performer in early two-year-old black type events through autumn, trainer Gerald Ryan has confirmed boom colt Rubick for a racing return in the 2014 Shillaci Stakes.

Stamping his claims as one to watch when charging home to win the TAB Iphone App Plate (1000m) on debut on January 25th, Rubick continued his strong form through a comfortable win in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) on February 8th but was unable to handle the late pace of Earthquake in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m); fading to finish fourth.

Thrilled with the work and form produced by the Encosta De Lago colt in the lead-up to his racing return, Ryan is confident of a polished first-up performance from Rubick in the 2014 Schillaci Stakes.

Not seen on course since an exceptional two-year-old season through the 2013 Autumn Carnival, Overreach has been confirmed for the 2014 Schillaci Stakes.

Finishing second to Villa Verde in the Listed Debutants Stakes (1000m) in October 2012, Overreach won all of the Listed Widden Stakes (1100m) Group 2 Moet & Chandon Stakes (1200m) and Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m); returning to the paddock after finishing fourth in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m).

Sessions (barrier 7), Iconic (barrier 2) and Not Listenin’tome (barrier 5) have also been confirmed in the final field for the 2014 Schillaci Stakes.
